Lydia Watson is a visual artist born in Plainfield, New Jersey. Her work reflects a unique perspective, using various mediums to tell a different kind of story through her art presentations and compositions. Lydia aims to inspire viewers’ imaginations through her art.
Lydia’s artistic journey began in the early 1990s when she showcased her work at Plainfield’s Outdoor Art Festival in Library Park, where she won the Rotary award. Her work involves experimentation with different mediums such as oils, acrylics, pastels, pen & ink, graphite, and collage. Lydia has produced two art series, namely the “Black and White” series in 2005 and “Plainfield in ’08 through the Eyes of Watsart” in 2008, which were accompanied by books printed in support of the exhibits.
Currently, Lydia creates works on paper using pen and ink with colored pencil drawings, and smaller oil paintings from still life compositions, with a focus on light effects. She coined the phrase “A lifetime of pleasure, your future treasure” to emphasize the value of art as an investment.
Lydia signs her works interchangeably as “Watsart” and “Lydia Watson” after being asked about her signature. Her work has received recognition with various awards for her artistic contributions, and she has a public art installation inspired by Cedar Brook Park Pond on the corner of South Avenue and Terrill Road in Plainfield, New Jersey. Her work can be found in some of the most beautiful homes in the country and corporate offices.
Lydia’s art encourages a fresh perspective on the world, and she continues to inspire through her unique artistic voice.
