Emmy award-winning journalist Vanessa Tyler guides us through African American In Finance, in collaboration with the Northern New Jersey & Manhattan Chapters of the Urban League. With over two decades of broadcast journalism experience, Vanessa’s dedication to storytelling and advocacy has left an indelible mark on the industry. As the national senior anchor for The Black Information Network and the creator of the podcast “Blackland,” Vanessa embodies the spirit of excellence and empowerment. Join Vanessa as we recognize the achievements of Black women in the financial profession and explore the power of economic empowerment.

Dr. Guirlaine Agnant, M.D., F.A.C.O.G.
Chair of Gynecology, Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital
Dr. Guirlaine Agnant is a Board-Certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist with nearly
40 years of service to women’s health, specializing in high-risk pregnancies, infertility, and advanced gynecological surgery.
She earned her Bachelor of Science from St. John’s University and medical degree from Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara, Mexico. She is currently serving as Chair of the Gynecology Department at Montefiore Mt Vernon Hospital where she provides patient care while mentoring and training young physicians.
Dr. Agnant is an advocate for equity in medicine and a trailblazer in leadership. She served as Director of OB/ GYN Outpatient Services at Montefiore Mt Vernon and Supervisor of the Fifth Pathway Clinical Clerkship Program at NY Medical College. She currently serves as Vice President of the Medical Board at Montefiore Mount Vernon. Dr. Agnant has been involved with the National Medical Association and is a co-founder of the Society of Black Physicians of Westchester and the Bronx and a former President of the Westchester OB/GYN Society.

Dr. Virginia Caine
Director and Chief Medical Officer of the Marion County Public Health Department; President of the National Medical Association
Virginia A. Caine, MD is Director and Chief Medical Officer of the Marion County Public Health Department and an Associate Professor of Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine Infectious Diseases Division. She is Past President of American Public Health Association, President of the National Medical Association, Chair of the Infectious Diseases Section, and member of the NMA and Indiana COVID-19 Task Forces. Recently appointed a member of the federal committee for Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Board of Scientific Counselors, Deputy Director for Infectious Diseases. In 2020, the Indianapolis Business Journal (IBJ) named her as one of 40 Influential People of the past 40 years, as they celebrated 40 Years of Progress.
Dr. Caine works tirelessly to promote and advance public health through innovative programs and unprecedented collaborations. Her boundless energy, vision, and drive to serve people, especially disadvantaged areas, have led Dr. Caine to have her fingerprints on numerous projects. She helped set up the first HIV/AIDS healthcare delivery system of all major hospitals in Indianapolis.

Vanessa Northington Gamble MD., PhD
University Professor of Medical Humanities and Professor of American Studies at The George Washington University
Vanessa Northington Gamble, M.D., Ph.D., is the University Professor of Medical Humanities at George Washington University. She is the first woman and first African American to hold this prestigious, endowed faculty position. She is also a professor of health policy and medicine and professor of medicine at the George Washington University. In addition, she is adjunct professor of nursing at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing.
Northington Gamble’s many honors include membership in the National Academy of Medicine. She was the 2021 recipient of the Distinguished Graduate Award from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. In May 2022, she received an honorary doctor of science degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University.
A proud native of West Philadelphia, Northington Gamble received her B.A. from Hampshire College and her M.D. and Ph.D. in the history and sociology of science from the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr Robert L. Johnson MD, FAAP
The Sharon and Joseph L. Muscarelle Endowed Dean, Professor of Pediatrics and Director of the Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School
Robert L. Johnson, MD, FAAP is The Sharon and Joseph L. Muscarelle Endowed Dean, Professor of Pediatrics and Director of the Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School (NJMS). His clinical expertise and research focuses on adolescent physical and mental health, adolescent HIV, adolescent violence, adolescent sexuality, health equity and family strengthening. He Chairs the NJ Governor’s Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS, the Newark Ryan White Planning Council, and the Board of Deacons at Union Baptist Church in Orange, N.J. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and Vice Chair of the Community Prevention Task Force of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Dr. Johnson is a well-recognized spokesperson for adolescent issues and frequently appears on TV, radio and is widely published. He has an active schedule of teaching, research and clinical practice at Rutgers NJMS.

Dr. Osric S. King
Primary Sports Medicine, Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS)
Dr. Osric S. King is a board-certified Family Medicine physician specializing in Primary Sports Medicine at Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS). Dr. King pursued his medical degree at Temple University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Family Medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York, followed by a fellowship in Primary Sports Medicine at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center (UMDNJ) and HSS.
For over 25 years, Dr. King has dedicated his career to sports medicine, caring for patients in Manhattan and Queens. He serves as the team physician for St. John’s University and works closely with the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC). Beyond collegiate athletics, Dr. King is the Medical Director of the USA Boxing Metropolitan Chapter and has served as a ringside physician for amateur and professional combat sports for the past 25 years.

Dr. Robert L. Plummer, MD., F.A.C.S.
Surgical Site Director at the Montefiore Wakefield Division, and Assistant Professor of Surgery, and Surgical Clerkship Director at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine
Dr. Plummer was born and raised in the Bronx as a first-generation child of Jamaica West Indies immigrants. His parents worked in allied Health Professions and Dr. Plummer was interested in science and medicine at a very young age.
Dr. Plummer attained his Medical Doctorate from Rutgers Medical School in 1983. His passion for surgery led him to pursue his General Surgery, Critical Care, and Surgical Endoscopy residency and fellowship training at Harlem Hospital in New York City.
Presently, Dr. Plummer is the Surgical Site Director at the Montefiore Wakefield Division, and Assistant Professor of Surgery, and Surgical Clerkship Director at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He is actively involved in medical education and Surgical residency training for over 35 years and has received many awards for excellence in teaching, community service, and missionary work.

Dr. Laura E. Riley, MD
Obstetrician-in-Chief NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center Given Professor and Chair, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Weill Cornell Medicin
Laura E. Riley, MD, is Obstetrician and Gynecologist-in-Chief at NewYork-Presbyterian/ Weill Cornell Medical Center and Given Foundation Professor and Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Weill Cornell Medicine. Dr. Riley leads the Alexandra Cohen Hospital for Women and Newborns, and the obstetrics and gynecology enterprise at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center.
A maternal-fetal medicine specialist and internationally recognized expert on obstetric infectious diseases, she works with the CDC, and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists to develop related practice guidelines including maternal immunization. She is the author of numerous peer-reviewed articles, and reviews on obstetric infectious disease. She is past president of the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine and received the Lifetime Achievement Award from that Society. Dr. Riley is also on the editorial boards of Contemporary OB/GYN and NEJM.
Dr. Riley received her Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from Harvard University and her medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

Ms. Judith Watson, RN,BSN,MPH
CEO Westchester Community Health Center
Judith immigrated to the USA from Jamaica West Indies at age seven and settled in White Plains. Upon graduation from White Plains High School, she joined the United States Army touring on active duty for three years, stationed on Ford Island in Hawaii. She then joined the Army Reserves where she served actively for seven years ultimately achieving the rank of Sergeant E-5.
Judith earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Registered Nursing from Pace University and Master’s Degree in Public Health from New York Medical College.
Throughout her tenure, she has served in many capacities including varying levels of nursing, Executive Director of the Greenburgh Health Center site and Chief Operating Officer of the Mount Vernon Neighborhood Health Center, all of which has led to her current position of CEO.
