One of Newark Arts’ key achievements is the development of “Newark Creates,” the city’s Community Cultural Plan, a direct result of extensive community engagement. Recognizing the need for funding, space, and coordination to ensure a thriving arts and culture scene, Newark Arts has actively implemented this plan, alongside their own strategic initiatives.

Newark Arts’ impact encompasses several far-reaching programs:

NEWARK CREATES: Managing the City’s Creative Catalyst Fund, distributing $2.35 million to 402 artists and small arts organizations, fostering a flourishing creative ecosystem.

ARTSTART GRANTS: Since 2001, providing micro-grants and partner grants totaling nearly $1 million, ensuring community access to art in every ward.

NEWARK ARTS FESTIVAL: Showcasing Newark as an under-recognized art and tourism hub since 2001.
